- This machine was received promptly from Amazon.com.
It says it is a 45 stitch machine. very misleading. It is only a 17 stitch machine. The difference in stitches is the length/width, but that doesn't exactly make it a different stitch. The manual also stinks... not clearly written at all. It took me over 2 hours to figure how to get from one set of stitches to a second set of stitches (you have to adjust 2 different knobs to get from one set to the next, but that is nowhere in the manual). One more thing that drove me nuts...
Brother Xl 5600 Sewing Machine comes with extra feet... great! However, not all of the extras are listed in the manual... and the manual does not tell you which foot to use for which stitch... thank goodness I have a little knowledge of sewing. If you are a beginner, don't buy this machine. If you do, you will need to hire a professional to help you understand how to use it.

- The Best Embroidery/Sewing Machine for the money!

I bought my Brother in April and have been sewing on it daily for at least 3 hours every day since then. I've never had ANY trouble with it. It's a MUST that you also buy the PED Basic to go with your machine so that you can download designs from the internet. I've downloaded over 8,000 free designs so far, and that's just a "drop in the bucket". You're limited to 4 x 4 designs (that's the only drawback). The machine is very light weight and has accompanied me on many trips. You don't have to have special needles or special bobbins for this machine. It's VERY user friendly! The patterns that come with the machine are very high quality, as are the Alphabets. I'd like to have more fonts on the Brother Se350 Computerized Embroidery And Sewing Machine but they are so easily accessible on the internet that this really isn't an issue. I will say that 40 weight rayon thread seems to work best (and use a bobbin thread when embroidering). When I finally wear this machine out, I'll probably go with another Brother machine.

- Small but fun

Very small throat-makes it very difficult to change feet, and thread by hand. Just is not enough room under there. Some of my projects that have yards and yards of material I know I will have difficulty doing on this Brother Se350 Computerized Embroidery And Sewing Machine. Embroidery hoop broke after just a few uses. Brother will replace if I ship it to them at my cost. They will then send a bag of bobbins back to me with my replacement hoop to easing the shipping pain. Wish the bobbin cover did not remove completely as it is tiny and easy to misplace or gets hidden under your project. Why bother including the little white pouch for accessories? It was ripped/split out of the box. Just give me a zip lock baggy to start with if you can not include a decent box for the seam ripper, hole punch, brush…it’s what all this stuff gets stored in after the machine is unpacked anyway.

- Great sewing machine value

Tension was perfect right out of the box. It is plastic cased, so I am treating it gingerly compared to the hefty metal machine on which I learned to sew. Very easy to thread and wind bobbins. The manual has very clear illustrations. However, Brother Ls 1520 Sewing Machine requires some flipping through as each series of steps is printed in several languages. Very enjoyable, and I look forward to using it. I hope with care it lasts a good long time.

- Not worth the money

Brother Ls 1520 Sewing Machine worked for a few days. it was out of warranty by the time I started to use it. The manual says that it has no user serviceable parts. So had to pay $50 just to get it fixed. Spend more and buy a better quality machine. The authorized service center guy told me these type of cheap machines break very frequently. Stay away!

- Pros and Cons - You Decide

I bought Brother Cs 8072 Sewing Machine for the price and the features, but I have to admit, I was nervous after reading some of the reviews that told about all the problems that they had right away. But I figured it had to be better than my 35-40 year old Kenmore. I want to state right away, I am very happy with my purchase thus far. I have managed to figure some things out. But, if you are looking for a good machine to quilt, this machine has all the features you will need, and it's priced so you can actually afford it. 2 other points to know, Amazon has a good return policy and from what I have heard, Brother has a good customer service history. These were 2 other deciding factors for me.

So here are my first impressions. I thought I was going to get a 1/4" foot that is shown in the instruction manual. I didn't. If it was supposed to be in the box, I'd love to hear from someone to let me know. I also read in the reviews that some people got a instructional DVD. I didn't get this, but if I was supposed to get it, I'd like to get it. The hard cover does not allow you to keep the machine plugged in to use it, so it's not going to be useful for me, except when I want to store it long term. I cover my machine whenever it's not in use with a quilted cover that I made for my old machine. Luckily, it fits my Brother.

Next problem was very strange. Suddenly the thread was bunching up on the bottom side of my project. Out came the instruction manual again, but the answer wasn't there. I changed the bobbin thread to a different color, which showed me that the top thread was the thread that was bunching up on the bottom. So I started messing with the tension again. But that wasn't helping at all! So I decided to try a different thread, and SHAZAM! it worked. The original thread I was using was a cheap thread, I changed it to a good quality thread. Lesson 2, Brother Cs 8072 Sewing Machine does not like cheap thread.

- Don't let the low price fool you. This is a great machine!

Brother Cs6000I 60 Stitch Computerized Sewing Machine represents the most incredible value for money on the market today. It is very easy to use and the manual is exceptionally helpful. It comes with every foot and accessory you could ever possibly need. In fact, there is nothing more you can buy for it. Compare that to the other sewing machine manufacturers, which give you only the most basic feet and then you, must purchase everything else separately. If you have been hankering for the convenience of fully computerized sewing, automatic needle threading, push-button sewing, and lots of fun stitches, don't hesitate. I highly recommend this machine. I've owned very expensive machines from all the top manufacturers, and would not recommend it if the stitches were not beautiful or if it were loud or junky. This was given to me as a gift (I'm ashamed to say I would probably have walked right past it because of its low price) and I love it so much, I have gone on to buy the Brother serger here on Amazon, and also a $999.00 Brother Innovis, which is another tremendous bargain. I was really pleased to see that even the more expensive machine uses the same bobbins and feet as this one, and this has many of the same features. This $200 machine comes iwth virtually all the same attachments as the $1000 one.

I wanted a mid-range sewing machine with some flexibility, and this is the machine. I sews quickly and flawlessly, and is super easy to learn. It seems well made, and very intuitive to learn. I love the computerized stitch selection - so easy to change stitch length and width. I've had no problems with winding the bobbin as in previous Singer machines. I love the fact that it comes with a quilting table and a case, too, what a deal. It seems to me to be a good, basic machine that would be great for a beginner or intermediate sewer. I've made several purses since I bought this machine, and they stitched up very well. Good selection of presser feet with this machine, as well. Easy to thread and easy to wind the bobbin. The bobbins are readily available everywhere, so I bought a dozen for $2 so that I could keep plenty wound and ready to go. Brother Cs6000I 60 Stitch Computerized Sewing Machine is very light and easy to carry around - that's a big plus for someone like me who has to sew at the kitchen table. I could have rated the machine 5 stars, but haven't had it long enough to really have super deep feelings about it, so far I'd just say it seems to be a good mid-range machine and I would recommend it. My other machines have been an expensive Singer (nothing but trouble), a budget Brother, and a Baby Lock Serger.

I bought this Brother machine to replace an old Singer machine that wore out it's gears. The Brother Brother Sewing Machine Ce 5000Prw is a great machine. We bought it refurbished and it looks new. Works great; really can't say anything bad about it. However, one advantage is also a disadvantage if you are used to an older, and heavier machine. The Brother is lightweight and easy to move around, store, etc . It also doesn't stay put when you are wrestling heavy materials around to get it in position to sew. This takes some getting used to. The old machine was built into a table so I may have to build a platform to hold this machine in place. We recommend it as a good machine.

We purchased a refurbished Brother Sewing Machine Ce 5000Prw, at the beginning I wasn't sure about not buying a brand new one but after reading reviews and realizing the guarantee was the same as for a new machine we decided to buy it. After we got it we have not had a single complain, it was a gift for my wife and she loves it, like some other people say, the automatic Threading System is a little tricky at the beginning but once you get it works great. Bottom line it was a great purchase, the vendor was efficient, the delivery was fast and without any problem, I recommend it 100%. Easy sewing, I'm not an expert sewer. "Good" is even pushing it - so I need a lot of help. I really like the auto threader and one-step buttonholes. For practice, I have a trunk load of patterns, fabrics and husband's old shirts for that Brother Sewing Machine Ce 5000Prw is quite easy and fun to use.

I shopped extensively before buying this Brother Project Runway Sewing Machine, including reading reviews, asking folks and trying them at the shop. This machine is great. VERY easy to use, good manual, solid and attractive. So far everything I've tried has been easy and flawless. It quite literally makes sewing easier.

- So far, Quite an impressive machine

I bought Brother Project Runway Sewing Machine a couple of weeks ago. It is an upgrade for me from a VERY basic Brother machine. I bought mine at a sewing machine store; actually cheaper than Amazon and I get their expertise/service. Brother Project Runway Sewing Machine makes a very nice buttonhole. Not as nice perhaps as a machine twice its price but still, just fine. It has this neat buttonhole foot in which you put your desired button in the back and it uses that button to automatically make the proper sized buttonhole. All in one step. This is WAY better than my old machine. The bobbin is a top-drop-in. No more bringing up the loop, just put in and sew.

One feature I've yet to use is a front stop/go control button. I guess that if you didn't want to or couldn't use a foot pedal you could use this button instead. I can see it being nice for buttonholes; you just position your fabric, push the "go" button, and it makes all the side of the buttonhole and stops automatically.

- Great user friendly sewing machine

I recieved my new Brother Cs 80 Computerized Sewing Machine yesterday and out of the box it works great. It took me a couple of hours to learn how to use the bobbin winder and the thread cassette the instruction book is written with pictures and describes everything step by step I found it very easy to use. I also love the fact of being able to use it with or without the foot pedal my last one I was constantly chasing it around the floor, its nice just to reach up and stop or start it with a button the same with the needle just push a button. I'm looking forward to all the built in stitches that are there and musts of all its light and easy to handle and I sat it on a wooden tray table to try it out and there was no vibrations and its so quiet. I know I will get hours of enjoyment from this machine. I've sewed for a long time and on all kinds of machines but I'm sure a beginner can learn to use it if you can use a computer you can use this

Brother Cs 80 Computerized Sewing Machine is great for quilting and everyday uses. The stitches used for quilting are tight. The decorative stitches really bring together your work. If you are trying to do upholstery or thicker than usual fabrics, I would look to another type of machine. The machine jams up, and the heavy duty thread unravels on the bobbin and causes poor stitches.

This sewing machine was given to me for my birthday. I had never touched a sewing machine before in my life. After reading through the manual a couple times, I was able to wind the bobbin and thread the machine pretty easily. This machine has an automatic needle-threader that worked only once. - Great sewing machine for the price range.

I teach sewing lessons in Spring Texas. I was tired of students bring "problem" machines. I bought this machine for because two students brought ones like it and I was impressed with the quality for the price range. A good thing is, you can sew very slowly. It goes when you press on the foot pedal, it doesn't growl and hesitate. You can also sew fast too. The only thing I don't like on this model is that every time you stop, it stops with the needle down in the fabric and you must turn the hand wheel to move it up. It would be much more useful if the needle stopped in the position.

Earlier this year I was given my first sewing machine. I works great but recently broke one of it's belts. Needless to say it was going to take a week to get a new one, and being in the middle of a project, I needed something quickly. I picked up this model by Brother Ce 4000 Sewing Machine. It will take some getting used to compared to the 35 yr old one but, once I get the hang of it I think it will be a great addition. Super light weight, easy to use, great easy to follow instructions, and awesome additional stitches I am excited to use it more. My only negative though is using it for what I do, embellishing jeans and overalls for my kids and friends kids, the thickness of the sewing stage makes this difficult.

- awesome for a first-timer

I make fashions for myself and others. However, I've secretly feared " Brother 1034D 3 4 Thread Serger " for years. I've quietly been hiding my fear by avoiding wearing any of the knitwear I've made. My conventional machine is a top of the line Viking with many features yet I've never been happy with finished look of knits made on any conventional machine. They just can't match yet alone exceed the look of RTW knits. The purpose of my lengthy introduction is to support my high rating of this entry-level serger. I'm an experienced seamstress who's obviously missed the boat on the necessity of a serger. Before choosing this serger I did my research. I've read reviews here on Amazon and several other sites about it taking into consideration everything users had to say. My ONLY problem has been that I'm used to the presser foot lifter being on the left not the right big deal. Biggest thing to remember is to thread it in order no matter what. Few people want to change thread but if you take your time and literally follow the numbers, you'll be serging a sample in 5 minutes. I've tested scraps of every type of fabric I could think of and made the adjustments as the book describes and everything's been perfect. Yes, it's a bit loud but putting a rubber mat underneath it helps a lot. I was lucky enough to get a new one on Amazon for approximately $180 delivered. It's worth every penny and more. I'm only mad at myself for waiting so long to enter the world of serging. It's cut my construction time in half. I won't be buying any RTW knits anymore. I've had it for a week and I've completed 3 projects though I work full-time. I've gushed enough, gotta sew.

I was afraid of sergers, never having operated one, even though I have sewed for decades and own a sewing machine. The deal on Brother 1034D 3 4 Thread Serger at AMAZON is so good though, that I purchased. I have never seen this excellent level of instructions in any other machine I have ever purchased. And I mean not just sewing machines, but anything. The box includes two CDs. minor critique here - there is a complete print manual, and you can download a pdf of this manual from the Brother site. All in all a great start. I watched the videos about ten times, then I began to serge. Brother 1034D 3 4 Thread Serger runs fast and smooth, and I am looking forward to many hours of fun! I have already made a pair of slacks, and I can't wait to get back to sewing.

- Delightful machine, Super easy to use

This machine is very similar to the popular Brother Es 2000 Sewing Machine that's sold both here in Amazon and in Wal-Mart. In fact they both use the same manual. The difference between the 2 are: CS6000 has an start/stop button so you can operate the machine w/o foot pedal, quilting accessories such as walking foot and larger table extension, needle up/down button, faster bobbin winding, 2 speeds, a hard cover and some extra fancy stitches. I don't care about these missing features. I sewed my own cloth cover using left over fabric. To me this little machine has all the functionality that I ever wanted from a sewing machine. All the utility stitches are there - sewing buttons and button holes (1-step), zippers, elastic, over lock, zig zag, satin, blah blah blah - everything you need to sew a dress or a pillow case, plus more. If you quilt a lot buy the CS6000 one. Threading is super easy because the direction is printed right on the machine.

- Don't let the low price fool you! This machine is great!

I have not had a minute's trouble with it. In fact, I prefer it over my Bernina 1090! It has so many features you would expect to pay thousands of dollars for! I thought I would never be able to afford a machine that did all this. The best part is, Brother Es 2000 Sewing Machine comes complete with absolutely everything you can buy for it. There are no extra feet to buy, etc., because this includes everything you need. One night just for fun I worked through the entire instruction book. It is without a doubt the best and most complete manual I have ever gotten with a sewing machine. I was able to master every stitch function and attachment in one very pleasant evening. You really don't need another machine. The feet are plastic, which is GREAT--you can see through them. There is nothing cheesy about the parts--they all work exactly as they should. I am crazy about my machine, and its support materials.

- Good updated machine.

Earlier this year I was given my first machine. 35 yr old Viking. I works great but recently broke one of it's belts. Needles stocky it was going to take a week to get a new one, and being in the middle of a project, I needed something quickly. I picked up this Brother Ce 4000 Sewing Machine. It will take some getting used to compare to the 35 yr old one but, once I get the hang of it I think it will be a great addition. Super light weight, and easy to use, great easy to follow instructions, and awesome additional stitches I am excited to use it more. My only negative though is using it for what I do, embellishing jeans and overalls for my kids and friends kids, the thickness of the sewing stage makes this difficult. It seems about 1-2" thicker than the Viking. I may, for these projects, have to use the old one.

This Brother Ce 4000 Sewing Machine has been nothing but amazing for the past six months I have been using it. I have made so many things with this. It is really good at sewing thick fabrics. The machine is heavy duty yet so light. This machine is just way beyond worth the price. I purchased mine not from Amazon and for $100 (it’s a refurb) it looks brand new and gets the job done like it was brand new. It came with quilting feet and that was a plus even though i have never used quilted before at least I have the option.

I bought this Brother Ce5000 Project Runway Edition Sewing Machine to replace an old Singer machine that wore out it's gears. The Brother CE-5000 is a great machine. We bought it refurbished and it looks new. Works great; really can't say anything bad about it. However, one advantage is also a disadvantage if you are used to an older, and heavier machine. The Brother is lightweight and easy to move around, store, etc. a good thing. It also doesn't stay put when you are wrestling heavy materials around to get it in position to sew. This takes some getting used to. The old machine was built into a table so I may have to build a platform to hold this machine in place. We recommend it as a good machine.

We purchased a refurbished Brother Ce5000 Project Runway Edition Sewing Machine, at the beginning I wasn't sure about not buying a brand new one but after reading reviews and realizing the guarantee was the same as for a new machine we decided to buy it. After we got it we have not had a single complain, it was a gift for my wife and she loves it, like some other people say, the automatic Threading System is a little tricky at the beginning but once you get it it works great. I'm not an expert sewer. "Good" is even pushing it - so I need a lot of help. I really like the auto threader and one-step buttonholes. - Great Basic Machine!

I replaced my Singer with this machine and I am more than happy with it. The Singer machine caused me problems from day one on. Contrary to the Singer the Brother Xl 2230 Sewing Machine is quitter, doesn't let the table vibrate and doesn't tangle up the stitches like my Singer does. I already made a couple of outfits for myself and it worked like a charm. I only can recommend this machine!!! I am having a ball with this little machine. And the price isn't to beat.

- More than I expected

I wasn't sure what to expect from some of the reviewers comments and the price of this machine. I certainly didn't need a toner cartridge! I'm new to sewing and with the features that Brother Xl 2230 Sewing Machine has, I figured that it could do just about anything I could ever need it to do. My mother, an experienced sewer, was there for moral support for my first attempt. Brother Xl 2230 Sewing Machine was great! Easy to use, quiet, and worked very well with no issues what-so-ever. I can't help but think that unless the machine was truly defective, that the people having problems with it, either didn't read, or didn't understand, the instructions. As a matter of fact, I know that's true because some things people mentioned as problems, are covered in the manual. I let my mother try it and she even liked it better than her old Singer. She said that she was looking for an inexpensive machine because she didn't need a fancy one like this with all these options. When I told her the price, she couldn't believe that this nice machine was so inexpensive. So far, I've got no complaints.

- Easy to operate!!

It was very easy to use right out of the box. The screen gives you all of the directions. I wish that the description said that it comes with a hoop, I bought one with my machine and it came with the medium hoop. If you are looking to do Disney designs -- Brother Pe 700 Embroidery Machine will only work with "The Taste of Disney" memory card.

- Don't let the low price fool you. This is a great machine!

This machine represents the most incredible value-for-money. It is very, very easy to use, and the manual is exceptionally helpful. It comes with every foot and accessory you could ever possibly need. In fact, there is nothing more you can buy for it. Compare that to the other sewing machine manufacturers, which give you only the most basic feet and then you must purchase everything else separately. If you have been hankering for the convenience of fully computerized sewing, automatic needle threading, push-button sewing, and lots of fun stitches, don't hesitate. I highly recommend this machine. I've owned very expensive machines from all the top manufacturers, and would not recommend it if the stitches were not beautiful or if it were loud or junky.

- Pros and Cons - You Decide

I bought Brother 60 Stitch Computerized Sewing Machine Cs 6000I for the price and the features, but I have to admit, I was nervous after reading some of the reviews that told about all the problems that they had right away. But I figured it had to be better than my 35-40 year old Kenmore. I want to state right away, I am very happy with my purchase thus far. I've had some problems (read below), but I have managed to figure some things out. But, if you are looking for a good machine to quilt, this machine has all the features you will need, and it's priced so you can actually afford it. 2 other points to know, Amazon has a good return policy and from what I have heard, Brother has a good customer service history. These were 2 other deciding factors for me.

I wanted a mid-range sewing machine with some flexibility, and this is the machine. I sew quickly and flawlessly, and is super easy to learn. It seems well made, and very intuitive to learn. I love the computerized stitch selection - so easy to change stitch length and width. I've had no problems with winding the bobbin as in previous Singer machines. I love the fact that it comes with a quilting table and a case, too, what a deal. It seems to me to be a good, basic machine that would be great for a beginner or intermediate sewer. I've made several purses since I bought Brother 60 Stitch Computerized Sewing Machine Cs 6000I, and they stitched up very well. Good selection of presser feet with this machine, as well. Easy to thread and easy to wind the bobbin. The bobbins are readily available everywhere, so I bought a dozen for $2 so that I could keep plenty wound and ready to go. This machine is very light and easy to carry around.

- One major limitation
This is a great machine for the price. I am teaching my teenage daughter to sew and she is turned off by my clunky old Singer. So I keep that around for the tough jobs and use this Brother Xl 2600I Sewing Machine for the light weight stuff. The only major limitation of this machine is that it can't really handle heavy weight fabrics or multiple layers very well. There is no presser foot adjustment, so the foot can only be raised so much, and can't be adjusted for variable feed, depending on fabric thickness. There is only one setting. That means you need to use plenty of pins, and keep the old Singer around for the heavy duty stuff. Otherwise, a fun little machine.

- Brother Service/Warranty is useless, but Amazon made it right.
I purchased this machine in early January. It arrived promptly by Amazon, as usual. I used it for a couple of weeks and a little piece of the automatic threader broke off. It took me over a week, counting the President’s holiday to get through to the sewing warranty department at Brother. My options were to go have it serviced (over 100 miles away) or get a box sent and picked up from UPS for service. The issue I have is that they do not replace the machine in the meantime. They also will not extend warranty time frame any longer. I phoned Amazon and they immediately arranged to send a replacement. I have purchased from Amazon for years, this is the first item I've needed to return. They came through.

I have purchased from Brother: a monochrome screen word processor, a Brother laptop, 2 Brother laser printers, 1 Brother Laser multifunction, 1 Brother Fax machine and now this sewing machine. This is the only Brother item I have needed service on. They did not come through. Make sure a repair center is close before you buy this machine. As for the functionality of the machine, it is great for simple sewing. Anything heavier I recommend an industrial quality machine. This one is light which contributes to the poor quality of the materials.

The first one I got through Amazon broke half way through my first project. I requested an exchange through Amazon and had my new Brother Xl 2600I Sewing Machine at my door the next day!! Before I even shipped the old one back to them. The machine works great, the button holes on this machine are so easy, such a relief and pleasant change from my Singer with the 4 step button hole. This machine also worked very well with my appliqués and all my normal sewing needs. For the price you can't go wrong here.

- I am having so much fun since purchasing this machine in September. Having sewn for 45 years on several machines, I can honestly say this is the easiest and best yet. When the box arrived I wasn't sure a machine was in it because it was so light. However, don't let that fool you. This is the first machine I have used that can go through several layers of heavy fabric with ease. I shortened heavy denim jeans, and it sailed right through without skipped stitches. And buttonholes - all you do is insert a button and sit back and watch the machine do all the work. The needle threader took some getting used to. I suggest you practice using a needle with a large eye. Once you get the hang of it you won't have trouble. The presser feet are easy to change. The LCD window tells you what foot to use for what stitch. It's an easy machine to use and so much fun.

- This is the first machine I have purchased for myself after having used machines of friends and family over the years. I have to say this machine is simply fantastic, it is very easy to use, I love the drop in bobbin feature and the computerized stitching functions. - Don't know why the thread is always broken.
We bought this sewing machine for our coming baby. I hadn't seen any other reviews before I bought it. The reason for me to choose this machine over others is the reasonable price and the reputation of the brand. After spending one afternoon figuring how to use it, the needle suddenly broke. Fortuately, there are another two in the accessories bag. THe main thing makes me worried is that if I sew fast, the thread will be broken. I kind of feel sewing speed should not be a problem to cause the thread broken. Maybe I am not proficient in operating this machine. I hope someone will give me some advice on how to solve the problem.

The Brother Ls 2020 Sewing Machine arrived in good condition. It's lightweight, so easy to carry as a senior citizen. I've made curtains and throw pillows and it fits my needs. But it has a carrying handle. I think it's a good value for the price. I like my Brother Ls 2020 Sewing Machine, but it did not arrive ready to use. When I began to sew it started rough and not smooth at all. I had to get the machine oiled prior to doing any project. I like the Brother Ls 2020 Sewing Machine and hopefully will enjoy doing many more projects. Though it's refurbished, it looks like new. It doesn't work well with materials thicker than doubled jeans, but enough for everyday use. And it's easy to start with! Very clear instruction.

The Brother Ls 2020 Sewing Machine was difficult to assemble all the little parts and one even cracked due to the flimsy plastic. I purchased this sewing machine as a gift for my granddaughter to learn to sew. She gave up after the first day; brought it back to me and when I tried to work with it, I sent it straight to the trash dump. I have been an accomplished seamstress for over fifty years and used many, many different sewing machines but this one was worse than the toy machine I had as a child. I bought this machine on a whim at Wal-mart because I was vaguely interested in sewing. I soon thereafter forgot about the idea and the machine was put in the closet. Three years, two moves, and one child later, I learned to sew clothing and became addicted. I have had almost no problems whatsoever with this machine. It is a breeze to wind the bobbin and even easier to thread. My only complaint is the touchy tension control. This machine does not do anything fancy, but what it does it does well. - OK For The Price
My parents bought this Brother Innov Is 40 Sewing Machine to replace a disfunctional Singer they had just given me as a gift. Though some parts similar, this was the better budget-priced machine. I had no problems with the upright bobbin or thread tangling like some other users reported. My problems were with the feed dogs, which had difficulty with anything thicker than medium-weight denim, and the speed, which is fast ONLY - not so great on curves. My other complaint is that you cannot fine tune the stitch length or width, and you have to turn a screw to adjust the buttonhole length. I also had a problem with uneven thread tension. Finally, the manual was written and printed on a budget. In the interest of squeezing in four languages, directions were often too brief and did not correlate with the illustrations. I would recommend this machine to intermediate sewers primarily working with medium-weight woven fabrics.

I bought Brother Innov Is 40 Sewing Machine about 5 years ago when I wanted to learn how to sew and quilt. As a beginner, the bobbin can be tricky--but be patient! I haven't had any problems with the machine--keep it oiled and clean.This model has very minimal bells and whistles which is perfect for a beginner. I plan on upgrading soon, but I will still keep this machine for quilting.

I purchased this machine for the same price several years ago. I used a sewing machine only once before during a Home Ec class in HS but wasn't into sewing at time. The Brother Pe700 Embroidery Sewing Machine is a single-use embroidery machine. The reason I bought a single-use embroidery machine is because it makes sense to me to invest in a separate machine just for sewing, and that way your expensive embroidery machine sustains less wear and tear and lives longer. I've posted a picture of the PE-700II and all the included paperwork and accessories out of the box. The paperwork includes a detailed manual in English, the same manual in Spanish, a "pictures-only" manual for quick reference, and a manual for the USB functionality of the machine. The manuals are very detailed and extremely helpful - if you'd like to see them for yourself, I think they are currently available on the Brother website. The standard accessories are included - white thread, empty bobbins, seam ripper, scissors, maintenance parts, a 5x7 inch embroidery hoop and guide, and a nifty plastic machine cover.

- Vague instruction book
I am new in the Brother Pe700 Embroidery Sewing Machine so I found the instructions that came with the machine vague. Not knowing what in the world they are talking about made it difficult to figure things out. I went online to different websites and got a basic education and can now at least stumble through a basic design. The instruction book with the machine doesn't explain what all the computer-like screens are for, what they do, why you would want to do a certain thing...nothing. I found out accidently on a website that the underscore is used for making a space when using the fonts. Basic info like that should be included with the machine. But as far as performance goes, I got it to DO something, it worked flawlessly and made some beautiful designs.

I purchased a top-name brand machine a couple years ago and have been a frustrated sew-er ever since! It had all the bells and whistles, but I could never get the tension just right among other little annoyances. So I purchased this machine, and I couldn't be happier. It is definitely basics only, but it immediately produced a perfect stitch and got the job done right. I would highly recommend this machine if you don't need fancy stitches. My only issue with it is that you can't see the bobbin, so you can't tell when you're running out of that thread. But overall, excellent for the price.

- Great sewing machine for the price range.
I teach sewing lessons in Spring Texas (www.GetSewing.com). I was tired of students bring "problem" machines. I bought this machine for because two students brought ones like it and I was impressed with the quality for the price range. A good thing is, you can sew very slowly. The machine goes when you press on the foot pedal, it doesn't growl and hesitate. You can also sew fast too. The only thing I don't like on this model is that every time you stop, it stops with the needle down in the fabric and you must turn the hand wheel to move it up. It would be much more useful if the needle stopped in the position.

- Good updated machine.
Earlier this year I was given my first machine...a 35 year old Viking. I works great but recently broke one of it's belts. Needlesstosay it was going to take a week to get a new one, and being in the middle of a project, I needed something quickly. I picked up this model by Brother. It will take some getting used to compared to the 35 year old one but, once I get the hang of it I think it will be a great addition. Super light weight, and easy to use, great easy to follow instructions, and awsome additional stitches I am excited to use it more. My only negative though is using it for what I do, embelishing jeans and overalls for my kids and friends kids, the thickness of the sewing stage makes this difficult.

The Brother Ce4000 Computerized Sewing Machine has been nothing but amazing for the past six months I have been useing it. I have made so many things with this. It is good at sewing thick fabrics. The machine is heavy duty so light. This machine is just beyond worth the price. I purchased mine from amazon.com and for $100 (its a refurb) it looks brand new and gets the job done like it was brand new. It came with quilting feet and that was a plus even though i have never used quilted vefore atleast i have the option.

Brother Sewing Machine Model Ce4000 mainly to do buttonholes. It works fine for everything I've done. It doesn't do well with thick fabric or several layers of light fabric. I don't like the presser foot lever being located on the right. Being right-handed, it's very awkward to raise & lower the presser foot while I'm holding my fabric. Also, there is no way to change the needle ending position. It always ends down & I would like to have it end in the up position most of the time. But, I got it mainly for making buttonholes & they're a breeze! I would recommend this machine for anyone doing light duties or occasional sewing.

- Worth every penny and more!
This sewing machine is easy to use for a beginner, but there are two main issues I have had so far. Firstly, the directions are a little bit confusing due to how they are worded and the four languages that are present throughout. Secondly, the thread gets caught on the wheel which unthreads the needle frequently. However, the sewing machine sews great and is easy to use once the directions are read thoroughly. I have never sewn before in my life, but with this sewing machine in the last two weeks I have made my first Halloween costume for my daughter. So, all in all, I am very happy with the machine.

I bought this Brother machine to replace an old Singer machine that wore out it's gears. The Brother CE-5000 is a great machine. We bought it refurbished and it looks new. Works great; really can't say anything bad about it. However, one advantage is also a disadvantage if you are used to an older, and heavier machine. The Brother is lightweight and easy to move around, store, etc ... a good thing. It also doesn't stay put when you are wrestling heavy materials around to get it in position to sew. This takes some getting used to. The old machine was built into a table so I may have to build a platform to hold this machine in place. We recommend it as a good machine.

We purchased a refurbished CE-5000PRW, at the beginning I wasn't sure about not buying a brand new one but after reading reviews and realizing the guarantee was the same as for a new machine we decided to buy it.
After we got it we have not had a single complain, it was a gift for my wife and she loves it, like some other people say, the automatic Threading System is a little tricky at the beginning but once you get it it works great.

Its been about 12 years since I have sewed (on a borrowed machine)... I purchased this machine in Feb and it was so easy to set up and use.. I haven't sewn enough to really know how to fix problems. The instruction manual was easy to follow and at one point when the tension wasn't right, the manual provided me what I needed to fix it.... - A great value for a quality product
The ad said it was lightweight and it is wonderfully so. The quick start guide was easy to follow to get started right away on my projects. It is a diagram-based chart for getting the bobbin and the machine threaded and I breezed through it; however, when I got to the automatic needle threader, I got a bit frustrated figuring out how the mechanicism worked. When I realized I had to look at the needle hole at a left angle and not straight on, I saw how the mechanism worked and it then was so easily to thread the machine I almost cried for joy. I have never had an automatic needle threader before and it is wonderful.

- Would be great if it wasn't completely useless
This Brother Xl 3750 Sewing Machine had all the features I was looking for right now, but the foot pedal has only one speed setting: light speed. Which would be fine if the person doing the sewing was a robot with Matrix-like faster-than-light reflexes, or if they could slow down time or something. As is, the machine is completely useless. The slightest amount of pressure on the pedal makes the fabric shoot out so fast that it immediately gets bunched up and it is impossible to keep it straight or see what it's doing.

When I received the Brother He 120 Embroidery Sewing Machine I thought it was terrific. I read all the instructions and was excited to try it, and it's many stitches out. Unfortunately, after 2 days it broke. The store said I would have to return it. I never even got to try the embroidery function. So, either the machine is very fragile or I just got a lemon. I returned it for refund and will try a Singer machine this time.

- I absolutely love this machine!
I was able to thread a bobbin from the very beginning, then i learned to thread the top with no problem at all. I then ventured to try to stich and it went perfectly! my mom was impressed with what I was able to do within minutes of taking it out of the box! then I thought ok now time to test the embroidery patterns out and following the instructions it was no problem at all. It turned out so well! I love this machine and I am absolutely positively happy that I purchased this! It is definetely money worth spent in my opinion! It's definetely good if your a beginner like myself, there are still things that I am gonna learn down the road but so far it's been a blast and I can't wait to start making things for my daughter.

I have been very sucessful in digitizing my own designs on Embroidery Magic 2, converting the format to PES, transferring the design to the Brother card on PED-BASIC. It easy to use. I found an easy solution when researching this on the internet. When loading the cassette at step 6 on the cassette pull the thread straight up when loading the cassette. The Everything Sewing Book and Sewing for Dummies. Between the manual and the two books I was completly prepared to make pajama bottoms for the entire family for Christmas. After much research and absolutly no experience with sewing I purchased this machine and borrowed a couple of boos from the library: I started with making a pair for myself and being OK with any mistakes and moved on to making the rest with confidence. I spent a good hour reading and re-reading the instructions and doing everything as told and I ended up free styling it with the zig zag stitch. I don't feel too bad about it though because my grnadmother whos being sewing for 50 years can't do it either!

- A great value for a quality product!
I played with the dials on a piece of scrap fabric for a 10 minutes and then started on my projects. I did some light mending and then finished with sewing heavy outdoor fabric and the machine handled it all beautifully. The reverse stitch button is prominent and easy to push and the brother machine responds quickly. As an aside, the machine comes with lots of gizmos to do all kinds of special sewing projects (embroidery) and also 4 standard needles.

- Brother XL5700-its a good deal
I bought the machine after picking up a more expensive new Singer which was garbage. I was told by Singer customer service that I should have probably bought a more "advanced" machine.They would not take it back and so I said I'll never buy another Singer. This Brother machine is my first. The price was very good at a local big box store. It set up wonderfully and I was sewing in 10 minutes. The machine runs very smoothly and is much quieter than other sewing machines I have owned or used in quilting classes. I quilt around 30 hours per month with my machine, but didn't want to spend $500 or more for a basic sewing machine. I am very happy with the purchase of this XL-5700 for under $200.

This is a great Brother Xl 5700 Sewing Machine for the price. I think the quality and number of functions are great for the part time or occasional user. I would recommend purchasing a cover though. Even though it is very portable, there's no exterior protection or dust cover. It also seems to be much better quality than a comprable singer.

This is the machine that some of the larger sewing and quilting expos are using in their workshops now because they are so lightweight, easy to learn, and reliable. High end Berninas and Vikings are just too complicated for people to sit down and learn at in a classroom setting, and they are way too expensive. This machine is the Featherweight of the 21st century, with tons of stitches and fun built in. Go for it!!!

- Purchased for non-sewing daughter,
I bought this machine because of the many good reviews, and because a hard case/cover was included. The case is more cover than case, as the machine is not enclosed by the cover, and the cover has no handle, just a hole in the back where you can stick your hand in to carry the machine, much like carrying a cube of soda cans. The machine can be carried in this fashion because it is incredibly light.

I bought this machine for Christmas and have sewn on it just a few times so far. I thought it might be complicated, but it is so very easy to use. One night just for fun I worked through the entire instruction book. It is without a doubt the best and most complete manual I have ever gotten with a brother sewing machine. I was able to master every stitch function and attachment in one very pleasant evening. You really don't need another machine. The feet are plastic, which is GREAT--you can see through them. There is nothing cheesy about the parts--they all work exactly as they should. I am crazy about my machine, and its support materials. So crazy, in fact, that I recently bought the Brother serger here on Amazon, and it is just as good. GREAT machines. Why spend more? Buy this inexpensive machine and you'll have lots more money to spend on FABRIC!!

- Great Machine! Even for beginners!
I bought this machine so I could make Christmas Presents this year and it has been great. The only thing i would reccomend is if you are new to sewing to try and have someone who isnt new around, the directions can be somewhat confusing in their wording, especially if you have never even looked twice at a machine before. And it took me forever and a year to figure out how to thread the bobbin, and the machine since I didnt know how. But once i got it, i figured out that it has lots of different stitch settings, which I am still trying out and will probably never use all of them. It can sew buttons as well. And it comes with lots of feet for the machine as well as bobbins (it has to have a special kind) and a little kit of tools as well. Overall this is a great buy! I may end up purchasing "Sewing for Dummies" to go along with it, so I can learn to sew more then a pillow.

- quite an impressive machine
One major feature I was looking for in new machine is speed control. I am teaching my daughter to sew; this machine can be set to sew very slow. Great when trying to teach a nine year old. Threading is pretty simple; there is a nifty automatic needle threader. I'm using it but threading a machine needle was never a big deal for me. I also like the automatic needle up feature. On every machine I ever used previously, I had to turn the wheel when done sewing a line to raise the needle. This machine does it automatically. Brother Pc 210 Prw Limited Edition Project Runway Sewing Machine makes a very nice buttonhole; not as nice perhaps as a machine twice its price but still, just fine. It has this neat buttonhole foot in which you put your desired button in the back and it uses that button to automatically make the proper sized buttonhole. All in one step. This is WAY better than my old machine.

- A Great Machine!!
This machine was recommended to me by a close relative that is very experienced in embroidering. I was interested in doing some things but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a machine as I didn't know if I would really like embroidering. As a novice, I didn't want to deal with anything too complicated. WOW, what a surprise. I love this machine!! I have never embroidered anything in my life! Opened the machine and within an hour had embroidered my first design. It was only my initials but I couldn't believe how easy it was with this machine. I'm hooked! No doubt I have much to learn about embroidering..but for me, I couldn't have found a better machine! It's GREAT!!! Very happy I chose this machine.

- Brother Embroidery and Sewing Machine
I received this machine as a birthday gift and couldn't be happier with it! I thought it would be intimidating to use, but on the contrary it is extremely easy to switch between sewing and embroidery. The automatic threading system makes it amazingly easy to switch from one color to another and the electronic controls are a great addition. Straight stiching is very quiet, and even embroidery isn't that loud. The only caveat is that you can't add designs directly, but with the purchase of a SmartBox you can download them free or economically from websites and save the $60 or $80 Brother charges for expansion cards. All in all this is a fantastic machine.

- Just A Little Research
I have just purchased this Brother Sewing And Embroidery Machine Se270D. I had a very tough time finding one in stock - NEW. I had an older machine Euro-Pro that I just loved but it quit sewing stitches. I am thrilled that after researching this Brother uses the exact same bobbins (I have 60+ of SA156). It also uses Low Shank Quick attaching feet that all my specialty rufflers, etc. will easily adapt to. It has an extra thread holder that mounts on top of the thread cartridge so you can use twin needles or your favorite thread. It is very versatile.

- A Fashion designer on a budget's DREAM
This sewing machine has amazing for the past six months I have been useing it. I have made so many things with this. It is really good at sewing thick fabrics. The machine is heavy duty so light. This machine is just way beyond the price. I purchased mine not from amazon and for $100 it looks brand new and gets the job done like it was brand new. It came with quilting feet and that was a plus even though i have never used quilted vefore atleast i have the option.

- Great sewing machine for the price range.
My Brother Sewing Machine Model Ce4000 arrived very quickly, and it was very easy to set up and get going on my first projects. It is very lightweight, so it is great for those with a small sewing area or that need to travel. It came with a variety of presser feet for all the different stitches and I have not had any problems with it so far; it is so easy to change stitches and I love the easy set bobbin and automatic needle threader! Buying a refurbished machine has been a very good choice for me, because it works great and was definitely worth the price.

- Good for general duties
My boyfriend ordered the Brother Sewing Machine Model Ce4000 for me on 10/29. I got it today. I absolutely love it! I haven't had a chance to sew anything yet,but have done some sample stitches. I wanted it because I'm gonna start making baby quilts and this machine has some features that will come in handy. The price is awesome. Can't wait to get started. - Delightful machine, super easy to use.
Brother Computerized 77 Stitch Function Sewing Machine is very similar to the popular CS 6000 that's sold both here in Amazon and in Walmart. In fact they both use the same manual. The difference between the 2 are: CS6000 has an start/stop button so you can operate the machine w/o foot pedal, quilting accessories such as walking foot and larger table extension, needle up/down button, faster bobbin winding, 2 speeds, a hard cover and some extra fancy stitches. I don't care about these missing features. I sewed my own cloth cover using left over fabric. To me this little machine has all the functionality that I ever wanted from a sewing machine.

- Don't let the low price fool you! This machine is great!!
I have owned this machine since Mother's Day 2005. I have not had a minute's trouble with it. In fact, I prefer it over my Bernina 1090! It has so many features you would expect to pay thousands of dollars for! I thought I would never be able to afford a machine that did all this. The best part is, this machine comes complete with absolutely everything you can buy for it--there are no extra feet to buy, etc., because this includes everything you need.

- Great Machine! Even for beginners!
I bought this Brother Computerized 77 Stitch Function Sewing Machine so I could make Christmas Presents this year and it has been great. The only thing i would reccomend is if you are new to sewing to try and the directions can be somewhat confusing in their wording, especially if you have someone who isnt new around, have never even looked twice at a machine before. And it took me forever and a year to figure out how to thread the bobbin, and the machine since I didnt know how. But once i got it, i figured out that it has lots of different stitch settings, which I am still trying out and will probably never use all of them

- Easy to use, Designs included, Lots of fun
I get my Brother Pe 150 Embroidery Machine at Walmart.com, when I local Walmart was out of them. It comes with an instructional CD, which is very thorough. I found that I am able to skip the first few choices, because I'm an experienced sewer. It also comes with an embroidery hoop, a needle, a plastic cover, scissors, screw drivers, and a center guide.
The machine looks very much like a regular sewing machine--just more rounded, and is about the same size of a regular machine. It doesn't take up much space at all. Cleaning it is simple. I wipe it with a damp cloth, and the other parts are simple to clean with a brush.

- Easy to set up and use, lots of nice features
This is a nice patterns built into the machine, but many of them are cartoon-ish or meant for kids, so I recommend either buying some compatible design cards (check eBay for great prices) or the SmartBox if you'd like to upload designs from your computer or Internet. The included alphabet sets are quite nice. There are three styles, special characters, and small and capital letters.

- One major limitation
This is a great machine for the price. I am teaching my teenage daughter to sew and she is turned off by my clunky old Singer. So I keep that around for the tough jobs and use this new Brother for the light weight stuff. The only major limitation of this machine is that it can't really handle heavy weight fabrics or multiple layers very well. There is no presser foot adjustment, so the foot can only be raised so much, and can't be adjusted for variable feed, depending on fabric thickness. There is only one setting. That means you need to use plenty of pins, and keep the old Singer around for the heavy duty stuff. Otherwise, a fun little machine.

- An excellent buy
This is a GREAT machine for the money - it does everything the average sewer needs and does it well. I bought it because my $700 Elna became too heavy for me - this one is amazingly light. I really like the easy access to backstitching and with a little practice the needle threader works very well. I highly recommend this machine

This is one hard-working little machine. I am very pleased with its performance. The self-threading needle takes a little practice, but once I got the hang of it, it's very easy.
